Similar but different



I love The Guardian:

"Pygmy hedgehogs were last year's must-have pet. They are similar to a hamster in that they are nocturnal, enjoy exercise wheels and live for three to five years. They are different because they are carnivorous - and prickly"

Prickly? Who knew?

    I saw an article on mini pigs this weekend and have been harrassing the husband (Christmas present?), now I have another animal to add to the list.

  2. I thought a baby hedgehog was called a Hoglet - that is what I have always taught my kids in the classes I have taught over the years! Maybe I have taught them wrong! Beautiful picture xx

  3. I KNOW! I want a mini pig, too. I have 3 hedgehogs and they are so cute and sweet. Babies are called hoglets, and they are omnivores--in theory, they will eat anything that tastes good! Mine eat a cat food mix with some fruit for treats. I blog about my hedgehogs and other things at my Lindsay in Wonderland blog!

  8. my mother in law told me a few weeks ago that she wants a micro pig. I believe they have now appeared on my nephews christmas lists.

  9. I'd love a micro pig, or that little hedgehog, and I actually do plan on having a few miniature donkeys one day...if I ever get my horse ranch.

  11. Very super-cute. My mum worked in a vets when I was a teenager, and one day she took home a hedgehog to look after! Someone had found him and brought him in cos he was poorly sick. We called him Spike and he was awesome. Nearly as cool as the starling who liked to sit on her shoulder, Cheep. Oh yes we were imaginative with names...

  12. My brother has wanted a pet hedgehog ever since he knew what they were. When we were in London he was fascinated by the stories of wild hedgehogs in people's back gardens.
