yeah, but would you eat it?

Babies. And the urge to you know, um, kind of, well, eat them.

What is this? And why doesn't it happen to men?

I mean, N kind of gets that babies are cute (SORT OF. They rank way low compared to dogs. Or hamsters) but he looks at me like I'm deranged whenever I get all "sheissocuteIcouldEATher!" What is wrong with him?

*Cate and Talia, the most edible baby there ever was.

  1. I have to say that G. totally gets into baby eating. And teaching babies how to play guitar. While eating them? I don't know.

But I mean, with those cheeks...Can we be blamed?

  2. Oh. So it's just that N is like a robot or something? Damn. I thought it was cause he has the testicles.

And its her little thighs that get me. MUST EAT THEM NOW.

  6. @Liz, ha!

don't get me wrong, he gets all excited about playing with babies and teaching them stuff. The freak just doesn't want to *eat* them.

  7. The thighs! Yes! Thalia has the most nom-able thighs. And my cousin's baby - oh, you should see his cheeks.

And I think DJ falls into the same weirdness as N: he thinks they're cute and sometimes fun to play with, but when I say "I could just eat him/her up!" I get weird looks.

  13. My father in law apparently was so into the baby eating thing when James nephews were little that I'm actually scared to let him babysit when I have them. seriously. they'll come home without an ear or something.

  16. boys are weird that way. i'm all about baby eating. i say it all the time, especially if a baby is chubby and has little ripples in his thighs. sometimes, i'll say something really creepy though - i'll see a cute baby and be like, "Oh my God, that baby is so cute, I have to kidnap him and eat him for dinner."
if you're combining kidnapping and baby eating, you might be deranged. and by you, i mean me. :)

  17. Jarrod is the baby eater of our relationship. I mean, I go gaga over the gorgeous lil tikes, but he goes bonkers for them! its so funny to watch a grown man act like a strange talking over energetic alien!

  22. This post would make my lovely nanna feel better. One day, many years ago, my oh-so-gorgeous little brother was crawling about, minding his own business, when lovely nanna picked him up with an "oh, your so cute I could just eat you" and sort of nuzzled his fat cheeks and then proceeded to give them a big SUCK, thereby leaving a big red suck mark (we won't call it the h word coz that would be icky). My family were not too pleased with this and I think my lovely nanna was kind of embarrassed. But now we know there are a few more with baby-eating tendencies out there so that should make her feel better! (And may this serve as a warning;0)).

  23. Babies are completely edible.

Judging by the side-eye I get from the boy whenever I see cute babies and make nomming noises, I don't think he quite feels the same. Not quite, but almost I'll bet.

  24. I think my boy agrees privately but not publicly lest I take that as evidence that we should have one ourselves...

  25. it's the cheeks that do it for me.

but then luke's cheeks are edible, too. maybe it's not just babies for me?

i think you're on to something with the 'testicles theory'.

  28. Nate gets it. He never stops chewing on her. Maybe it only kicks in for the men with their own babies...? Sometimes he gets a bit over-zealous and she turns away because his face is all spiky and it gets a bit much. I'm allowed to kiss her as much as I like, mwa-ha-ha!

    :) xoxo

  29. Ha... have to say I'm not yet a potential baby-eater myself. I just don't have that desire yet! (Kittens I could happily nibble though!!) On the other hand, my OH does look at babies that way!

  33. 1)I don't know if the hubs is into nomming on babies because I never let him get near enough to them - I am too busy chewing on their arms.

    2) Comment made yesterday by said husband: "Maybe we should forgoe children and just get dogs. Because you love dogs of all sizes but you really only care about kids when they are babies."

3)I haven't commented on your blog much, out of shyness, but I left you an award on my blog. Check it out!

  34. Yes. I get that urge, most definitely. I said this whilst bathing my baby brother and my step mum looked a little concerned. And the thighs!
