N says that this is ridiculous. I say it's ridiculous, not to mention borderline insane, to have baby girls and not put giant bows* on their heads.
(By the way, we're having baby girls. Two.) *or flowerspicture by Jonas Peterson
Baby girls REQUIRE giant flowers and bows. My niece is a perfect example. (So am I, for that matter. Card-carrying member of the Bowhead Club, here. Though not so much in the past 15 years.)
AWWWWWW How amazing. Two beautiful, beautiful girls. Eeeeee Congratulations.
Two adorable bowed girls yayyyyyy
you *have* to put bows in their hairs. (girls!!!)
let me just weigh in and say you have to MEET the girls before you go ahead and PLAN to slap bows and/or big old flowers on their heads.I mean, can you picture ME with a motherfucking bow on my head? I was the 2-yr-old who wanted to punch you.
ACK! Congratulations!! As the big sister of twin girls who were often wearing bows on their heads I wish you luck and cuddles.
two baby girls! congrats!
oh yes ... it's required ... bows as big as their heads ... or flowers ... or other such cutenesscongrats!!!
Girls!!! Yay!!!! Better buy two for safe measure - I'm sure he'll come around. If not, he can dress one how he likes and you can dress the other! Compromise! :-)
the trouble, ESB, is that little girls who look like they want to punch you are even cuter than the other kinds. also they tend to grow into really excellent women.
oHH Congrats on two baby girls!! You have to put bows it's just the right thing to do! hehe. =)
Thanks chickens!@eastside I can do what I like until they're old enough to object. I wouldn't make them wear them once they were *aware* of what was on their heads, obv.
Ack! The cuteness KILLS.Methinks Nye needs to understand which things fall outwith his area of expertise. I reckon baby girl head bows might just be one of those things.
That's awesome. and I'm all for bows! Especially when they're too little to complain, because if they're like me--the second they can, off comes the bow and on comes the ball cap. Yay girls!however, I did become re-obsessed with large flowers on my head. As in, I wore one last night.Bottom line: take advantage of this time to slap lots of bows on their heads, they're adorable.
I have to agree with ESB, but I was the kid with a mullet and a yellow dump truck.
i am a firm believer in girls and bows. my mom tried to pull that non-girly shit with me and i would have none of it. i wanted pink and bows and only dresses from just about day one. yay girls!
How was I already assuming they were girls?Hahah poor Nye, 3 against 1, instantly...Have you seen slugs on the refridgerator? Best. Baby girl clothes. Ever.
Yay! Two girls! Milk the first year or two or wardrobe control for all it's worth. Because you might end up with a girl like me, who decides at two years that you CANNOT force her to wear anything she does not care to wear. Temper tantrums ensue. Later on, the digging of holes in the yard and the burying of saddle shoes, tap shoes, and unwanted dresses of all sorts.
@Rachel well now I want to force pink shit on them just to see if I can get them to bury clothes in the garden!(I think I love childhood you.)
@Peonies - I had the same thought re: Rachel. (@Rachel, I think I <3 childhood you, too.)
@k_darling you just proved @lauren's point. and @cevd proved mine.
The second I started reading this bébé started to kick the shit out of me. I'm not sure if by that she means "I REALLY want bows" or "I REALLY don't want bows".
@Marie-eve Widdle & Puke either really love or really hate choir music, Catholic weddings, the soundtrack to The Fly and me blogging. (They kick the crap out of me when I rest the laptop on my belly)
My sister tried the whole non girly thing with my niece. she now wears disney princess/alice in wonderland costumes at every opportunity and has a jewellery collection to rival mine (she's not even 5) - just proof that bow and flowers are a good idea!
And let me just say, there is quite the distinction between bows and princesses. There will be absolutely no encouragement of any princess crap in the Widdle/Puke residence.
I dressed my daughter in blue. People called her "tiger," as in, "Hello there, Tiger!' thinking she was a boy. I rather liked it.
@LPC, there will be lots of blue. Most of the clothes we've bought have been 'boy' clothes, ie blue + stripy.
Blue, stripes, and large bow-hats? OK that's it. Cuteness beyond words. I can only imagine one with your hair and maybe some little eyeglasses. The occasionally baleful glare. Two like that and I'm over the edge.
Gosh. Girls. Many many bows in different colours so you can tell them apart!
Awww, congrats. Two little girls. Twice as sweet (or twice the trouble).
GIRLS!!! How exciting, congratulations you guys!
YESSSSSSSSS! You are going to have such fun. Here is some inspiration: http://lululetty.blogspot.com/2009/07/what-they-wore-today-072109-vintage.htmlVery thrilled for you two! xo
It could not be more necessary! Ignore him :p x
Memememememe, I completely agree with you!! When else are you gonna be able to wear a flower bigger than your noggin, on your head ;)? And congrats!!!
OOooooh how thrilling! Congrats. Bows and flowers as big as their heads.Having said that.... little tom boy girls are the best. Particularly wearing overalls and/or stripes and some attitude.P.s I love how you're like "oh, tra la, blah blah, chat chat, flowers and sunshine... BAM! another bombshell." gets me every time.
Yowzer! Congratulations. How fun this will be for you, with all the bows...
squeeee!! girls! two!If bows on heads really don't fly, maybe he will put up with giant flowers. Or those ruffly diaper-covers.
I LOVE that hat. It would be a crime to not buy that hat and put it on your babies! Squeeee....
Congrats!!!!!!!! Little girls are so fun, I say that from an Aunt's point of view. I say go for the bows and flowers and any other flair you are feeling, they will look precious!!
oh, how exciting!! i've always hoped that my first will be a girl. you most definitely should put bows in their hair! he needs to get over it!
Some people have really strong feelings about headbands on baby girls. (Just like they do about most things baby-related I guess.) But even they can't argue with this one, being as it is a very practical hat.Totally agree with Lauren about the kids who want to punch you looking the cutest. And, come on, you've gotta end up with at least one like that. ;)
I think it'd be child abuse NOT to buy two of those hats.Congrats on your two girlies!!!
Baby girls! Eeeeee. How exciting! And yes bows (just not in baby pink) fantabulous. Or flowers, or just pretty things. Perhaps cute bear outfits. I can't wait to have babies to be able to dress them up in animal outfits. Yes I will be THAT mother :)
Oh yay!! Total future extreme cuteness alert! ;)
Yay, how wonderful two little girls!I think bows are a must!
Congratulations on girls – widdle and puke are sugar and spice! My niece was given mostly 'boy' clothes and toys and girly pinky stuff was discouraged. She’s now a six year old terror tomboy who LOVES pink. You should see her doing action-man commando crawls and play park ambushes in her sparkly Barbie tutu. It’s a wonderful thing to behold.and is it wrong that I want that hat for me!?
Baby girls are my secret favorites. shhh... Lucky lucky you. (D's family has 85% boy children, so I think my chances are small. I shall live vicariously.)
girls! congrats!bows on heads! flowers on heads! little baby girls!
oh my! baby girsl! TWO baby girls!! i am checking in after a near year-long blog hiatus (not just from you... i would never be so rude!) and see that you are having TWINS! I am so happy for you!and you must put bows on their heads.
Congratulations! I loved putting things in my hair when I was little - bows, flowers, clips... you name it! an essential part of being a little girl
Two baby girls! congratulations! and that giant red bow knit had is sooooo adorable :)
Oh, two little girls with bows on their head! While reading this post I wished I were pregnant for the first time in my life. Now that was rather scary. In a good way.
CONGRATULATIONS! I am so happy to hear this! Baby Shortcake sends a sloppy kiss!
YAY FOR GIRLS!!!!!! I'm totally sexist that way. I want all babies to be girls. Because...bows. But please, make the bows colorful and not all pink. Pink + Bows/Flowers = Overkill
girls... eeeee how amazing. My mum's a twin and they seem to have such a special relationship they have always called themselves me us. eeeeeee i'm so excited for you.. woop woop.
also I never buy pink for baby girls! but tutu's, bows and flower accessories are all good..
Congrats on the baby girls :)I think it's adorable how there is a trend for babies! The oversized bows/flowers that are bigger than their heads, yet adorable!
i just squealed to andrew... "two girls! they're having two tiny, cute, skinny, skinny girls with bows!"
Eeep!!!! (jumping up and down excited doing little happy dance)
Very beautiful girls!!
aw! wow. the best of luck! lots of happy candy-striped bows and loveliness to you and them too! x
Congrats!!!!!!! You can never have too many big bows and flowers. It's ridculous he doesn't love that red hat! Ha!
I have 2 friends that are having twins! Lots of girls, all around. bows are great, but not the kind attached to the garter type headband, go with cotton.-- So glad I am not pregnant, I know what I would have. 2 of.
i have not one picture of myself as a child lacking in bow-age. you can spot me like waldo in every picture, with a giant bow on my already large noggin
i'm a little late catching up, but just wanted to say congrats! yay! girls! go crazy until they can speak and then you'll lose all control. so i hear anyway.
Pretty bows and flowers for pretty girls! How can you not add flowers to little girls heads. Soo cute!
