The McGlynns {A London family photo session}

You may already know Lauren, she's the force of nature that is Lauren McGlynn photography. She is also mama to Baby Arthur (his official title) and wife to Aidan. When they were all in London earlier this month I jumped at the chance to take some pictures of their little family, all together in the sunshine.

Arthur is totally adorable with cheeks for miles. Lauren warned me about something called Baby Apocalypse, which is apparently his speciality, but he was nothing but charming while we hung out together. Ammie was pretty besotted. Not as besotted as she was with Lauren though, spot the interloper about five photos in.

It was so lovely to hang out with these sweeties and to watch Lauren being a mama. I watched from a fairly useless distance as she fought long and hard for this role and it was seriously, genuinely heart-warming to see her doing it; being the warm, loving (hippy) mother that she dreamed of being. And while it might not all be easy (secret; it never is) she makes motherhood beautiful.

Hanging out with Lauren is also a bit of an ego-boost, she says things like 'hey Cara, you know what you're doing with motherhood AND photography, tell me your secrets' (in that adorable American-in-Edinburgh accent) and I laugh hysterically because actually most of the time I'm just spraying and praying, with both. But still, it's nice when someone tells you that you at least look like you're not a total mess.

With that, here are some of the pictures I took of Lauren in our local park and on our back doorstep. If I'm feeling brave at some point I might share the ones she took of us, which bring the total count of pictures of the four of us up somewhat significantly.

  1. Aww thank you Cara! I can not tell you how much it means to us to have these pictures, but it means an awful lot! we love them! xx

  2. So cute! The cheeks! Beautiful photos. Of course:).

  3. What a beautiful family. I also love Lauren and want one of you two to take photos of our family someday.

  4. So adorable, and beautiful pictures.

  5. These are so lovely and natural. Such a gorgeous baby and family. I need to find some pennies and employ you Cara! It is so hard to get nice photos of the three of us.

    1. Do it! (sorry being an American here, but it is so worth it!) xx

  6. LOVE!

    Lauren, you're so cute. As are your As (and Cara's).

    Lovely photos. I love the big eyed, hair nibbling one especially.

  7. THE CHEEKS. Also, I love love love that last photo.

  8. Cara, these are so great! Lauren, I love your little family. Arthur is so cute.

    And I gotta say, I loved this photo swap. It's so nice to see both of you in *front* of the lens for once. :)

play nice.
